Well today was kinda a sad day, both Leah and I were starting to really enjoy the pace of Toad Rock and now we have to leave. As we were in a cabin it didn’t take us too long to pack up the bikes. While packing up we enjoyed some of that great coffee that’s brewed at the pavilion. Packed up we said our goodbyes to anyone hanging around and headed up the road. We even had the opportunity to say hello and goodbye to happy the pig that lives at Toad Rock.

Hitting Kaslo, we decided to hit the same place that we had eaten the day before, it was just that good! Fed and coffee’ed up we hit the road between Kaslo and New Denver yet again. I think Leah is starting to shake off her earlier incident and getting her mojo back cause I didn’t have too wait long for her. As we had done the touristy things on the road the day before it was just a day to bomb this road, I’m pretty sure I had a perma-smile on my face the entire way.

Soon enough we hit New Denver and gassed up. It was really nice to pull into a station without pay at the pump and have them recognize that we had no idea how much we needed, so they just started the pump for us.
The next section of road was nothing but high speed sweepers and after riding the Kootenay’s with speed limits in the 80s it was really nice to stretch the bikes legs. We stopped off at a wonderful rest area/waterfall that we had stopped at years ago to get a few pictures and selfies.

Soon we hit the lineup to the Galena bay ferry and could not have timed it better. We only ended up sitting for about 5 minutes before the line began moving and were loaded on the ferry.

While crossing the lake it started to look really really grim to the north and we figured we might get wet. After disembarking the ferry we pulled into the rest area and sure enough it started to drizzle. Another pair of riders had the some idea and the four of us quickly donned our rain gear. We headed down the road and sure enough it started to rain, HARD! After the rain started to let up and the sun came back out we pulled over to clean up our glasses, it’s really a novelty to be able to see where your going.
We quickly made Revelstoke and headed into the downtown core. We parked down from Rumpus brewing with the hope they would be open, of course with our luck it was closed, in fact so were a lot of the restaurants. We settled on eating at The Village Idiot, a moniker that I feel some days I wear. While waiting for our food we both looked for a place to stay the night, Leah tried to find us a AirBnB in Golden, but everything was really pricy. I wish we could find one priced closer to what Leah’s parents’ Airbnb is priced at. We both decided that the campground just below the ski hill would work and headed over to book a site.

After setting up our tent the plan was to head to the ski hill to hit the pipe roller coaster. Man am I glad we did, scattered blue skies and a view you can’t find anywhere else at the mid lodge. After the safety debrief I went first even though I offered for Leah to go first. The little roller coaster carts we rode would brake if you pulled back on the joystick, of course I had it pinned forward the entire time trying to go as fast as I could. You can tell by the difference in the two pictures of us that Leah was braking more than me.

Heading back to camp we quickly set up the remainder of camp and called a cab as both of us wanted to enjoy what Revelstoke has to offer. We asked the cab to drop us off at Rumpus Beer Company to give us a second chance at enjoying some of their beers. I’m quite happy to say they were open! One thing that we noticed when we were in the US was that sour beers had not quite caught on, I’m really happy to say Rumpus had a sour that would satisfy anyone that likes the tart beers.
