Well its been a while

Keith – Day 1

So COVID that’s a thing right? It’s my 40th this year and the plan was to head to Europe for OctoberFest but due to COVID I guess thats not happening. So my wonderful wife planned for us to head to Sun Peaks for a little bit of down hill mountain biking. As our best friends and cohorts Julie and Prash were heading to 100 Mile House in BC, they decided that they would come as well. Julie ended up booking a place at Sun Peaks and we planned to stay the first night of the weekend in Jasper. Due to this we decided that there would be no rush to head out.

So as we had no set agenda we decided to head out way way later than any of us are used to. Leah and I decided to sleep in due to the number of beers that we had partaken in the night before. Waking at around 9 Leah started in the morning by sewing some masks, just in case they are needed for our adventure. I woke up a while later as I needed some additional beauty sleep, I figure that was due to the beard. Prash and Julie came over as we were having a bite to eat and helped pack the remaining items into the car and we were off around 11:30

We hit the road and as I was the one that was leading decided to take a little different route, heading to Devon and crossing the river we hit Secondary highway 627 and headed to Seba beach and then onto highway 16. We took our

time leaving on this trip as none of us have ever been able to stop at Apex Predator (Formally Bench Creek) due to their hours. This time we were able to make it there during regular hours for a pint. After filling up in Edson we headed north to Apex Predator and were surprised by the patio. After a few pints we were back on the road to Jasper.

The plan was to stop at Folding Mountain brewing but as we were getting close to 3:00 we decide to forgo Folding Mountain and just head into Jasper. Leah and I discussed as it was a long weekend and we were going to arrive around supper time, I made the suggestion that Leah drop me off at the brewery and I get the 5 of us a table, they would then check into the hotel and meet me at the brewery.

After dropping me off the communication was that checking into the hotel involved a line up, meanwhile I enjoyed my second pint at Jasper brewing.

After supper we sauntered down the road and hit the Jasper Wine Cellar looking for a particular beer. Successfully we found not one but 2 bottles of Westy 12 and headed back to the hotel for some rest. Looking forward to tomorrow where we have no real set agenda.
