Day 5 – Leah
We decided that today was the day to hit as many breweries in the area as possible. We scooted into Nelson, had a quick breakfast and then started to look into the opening hours of the places we were heading. As it turns out, we had woke up a bit too early to be hitting breweries already so we made a point of stopping at as many roadside pullouts and points of interest to kill a bit of time. Our first stop after Nelson was a little rest area with a small waterfall.

Then we swung into the (almost ghost town) of Ymir, the historical buildings were a bit dilapidated looking, but still pretty cool to look at.

Just down the road was Salmo with a great little coffee shop where I had a coffee & Keith had an espresso milkshake and a cream puff. By the time we had finished our treats, the brewery was open so we strolled in to have a flight of beer. Keith and I each shared all the beers on tap and then headed off to our next stop.

As we left Salmo, we turned onto Hwy 3A where the speed limit was 100kmph, I knew that Keith had completely unplugged and mellowed out because he failed to notice the speed limit sign so we did about 90kmph the whole way into the next town. We made Rosstown the next stop, home of Rosstown Brewing Co. We had a flight each and some snacks then decided it was time for an early supper or late lunch.
We made Trail Beer Distillery the next stop, they had great food and some enjoyable beers, we grabbed a few Evers for the road and headed off to the next small town.

We pulled into Castleguard and found Tailout Brewing, as we pulled in the staff was just reopening as there was a suspected gas leak in the upper floor of the building. The brewery only smelled like a brewery, so we were happy to jump up to the bar and order a beer each. It was a quick stop, and after that we were both anxious to get back to the campground and chill out for the night.
