Day 2 Mellow Keith and Murder

Well the day started with a wonderful sleep in at camp. I even got up before Leah to go have a shower. I was a little bit worried about staying at the whistlers campground after they removed most of the trees, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with our site, it was very private and a short walk to the showers.

After the shower I immediately started making coffee as I knew that would get Leah started in the morning. We started with a couple of americanos and Leah had a great idea to cook up some bacon to add to hardboiled eggs and cheese buns. I have to say… she has good ideas every now and then.

After packing up the trailer we discovered that I locked my keys in the unit, this was bad, but Leah had her set of keys for the trailer locks, she gave me a hard time for locking my keys inside the trailer. Then as we went to leave we discovered that Leah locked her bike key up in the trailer as well. I guess we both fucked up.

We headed into Jasper to fuel up and replenish the beer supply. I’m happy we are not in Jasper this weekend as it was kinda a zoo.

Jasper to Valemount was amazing, the aroma of wildflowers and the variations in temperature made for a great ride. We made it into Valemount, fuelled up and headed into The Gathering Tree for a coffee. This is probably one of our favourite coffee stops anytime we head to Williams lake when we can’t hit Three Ranges Brewing.

Heading down the road we hit the first section of road construction. One thing we learned in 2014 is to go through the road construction and wait at the other side until they stop traffic. This way you have clear sailing the entire time your on the road. For the section up to Blue river it worked well.

We decided to stop in Blue river for ice cream as the temperature began to climb and we both were getting quite hot. I went for rainbow and Leah had chocolate peanut butter cup. It was absolutely wonderful.

We left Blueriver and this is when I began to think about murder. First it started with a little shit box car that did not know about cruise control and varied speed between 93 – 101 Km/h. This was a taste of what was in store for us. About 60 km from Clearwater we hit some pipeline construction and decided to stop like we did previously, what a mistake that was. After dealing with the accordion convoy for what seemed to be forever, we made it to Clearwater and made our way to the campsite.

After setting up the trailer and having a few drinks we made our way over to the Hop and Hog. This is one of the best restaurants on all of highway 5 with great BBQ and beer.

We are now chilling at camp drinking a few pints and catching up on the blog.
