The day started out pretty early as with my back injury I don’t sleep well in the morning. We woke up around 7 and as we were both pretty clammy, decided a shower was in order. After the shower we hummed and hawed about going for brunch at the “resort” we were staying at. We both decided that after last night we would just pack up and head out due to the sketchy nature of the establishment.

We made quick time packing up and headed out just before 9 making quick time into Little Fort. Anyone who has been in this area of the country will know its really hard to resist the temptation to turn up highway 24 but as we had a previous destination planned we were set.
Shortly after leaving Little Fort we got stuck behind a large mobile crane. Normally I’m fascinated by cranes but when they are traveling down the highway I would rather just see them on site. Eventually we were given the opportunity to pass the crane and then made good time into Kamloops.
We both decided that we needed a coffee and possibly a bite to eat. After gassing up Leah found this great little greasy spoon Kirsten’s Hideout Cafe. I order the pancakes and eggs even after our server asked if I was hungry, I really should have listened to her as these things were bigger than my head.

Well fed, we hit the highway making a quick stop at the Harley shop before heading down highway 5 to Vancouver.
Anyone that has been following our blog knows that we tend to seek out breweries along our way. Unfortunately there were none open yet until Hope. That’s when I noticed Left Field Cider Co. on google maps but this would mean a little bit of a detour, shucks… We headed toward Logan lake and then south to Merritt. Both these highways are in the destination highways book so I was more than happy to check them off the list.

I have to say highway 97d really allowed me to learn how hard I can feel comfortable cornering with a trailer in tow. We hit some great sweepers and in no time we were in Merritt awaiting getting on the dreaded Coquihalla highway. I think of the Coq as highway 2 on steroids, 120 km/h with more traffic volume and mix in some long sweepers.
We were making some good time when suddenly everything ground to a screeching halt, we hit construction. For 5 – 10 km it was touch and go traffic moving mostly around 15 km/h. I’m very happy it was mostly downhill as having the trailer in tow could have caused me to nuke my clutch if we were going up hill. Finally getting to the construction zone to see what was causing this hassle we found that they had one lane closed at the new bridge that was washed away 2 years ago but no work and no hazard visible to traffic. This kinda stuff infuriates me as there seems to be no reason for it.
After passing the nonsense we quickly found our way into Hope to hit Mountainview Brewing for some tasters. We picked up a few to bring with us to site as they make some really great beers.
So I really need to update my GPS for the bike as it would not pick up the campsite I booked outside of Agassiz. After a few missed and wrong turns we found the campground with a site right beside the Fraser river. We set up quickly and decided that we would just chill at camp tonight and eat the chilli that Leah prepared prior to the trip. After that great meal we are now just chilling at site ready to play a game of cards.
