Just keep swimming, just keep swimming

Today started out pretty quiet with both of us getting some much needed extended sleep. We both woke up and the first thing I did was have a shower. This is my daily routine at home and I kinda feel lost when I don’t have that opportunity.

After the shower I set to make coffee and decided to make a French press coffee with our little Jetboil stove. I decided to flip the little filter as we always would get tons of grounds in the coffee and I wanted to see if it made a difference. Wouldn’t you know it we have been using it wrong for years, it made no-chew coffee today.

After a couple of hardboiled eggs we made a list of things that we need to pick up in town. First is a small propane tank as ours had packed it in as we discovered in the morning this and a few other items. I also noticed that the very polite kid form the neighbouring site was looking at the bike so I offered to have him sit on it and even started it up for him to rev.

He was super excited to sit on a hog
Then of course his younger sister had to have a go. That’s right start them young!

Dennis Sleno, a old co-worker of mine from my days at SMS Equipment retired and now resides in Powell River so we decided to make a plan and meet up for lunch. We caught up with him at the Shinglemill pub on Powell Lake. It was good to chat with Dennis as he was always open to talking anytime he was in shop.

Great to see Dennis

When we went to part ways I discovered that Betsy had yet another problem. Her right signal light was pointing down and the bar holding them to the bike was really loose. It was loose as both the nuts holding it to the bike had fallen out at some time during the trip.

Dennis has some errands to run but suggested that we come over to his place to fix the signal lights in a couple of hours. This gave us time to pick up what we needed, gas up and purchase the errant nuts for Betsy.

Once we picked up the nuts for Betsy I again went to work on a motorcycle in a parking lot (this is really becoming a theme this trip). We were able to fix the bar that holds the light and plate frame but we needed a thin wrench to fit between the bar and signal light so we headed to Dennis’s place. Finding the perfect wrench we quickly repair the signal light and headed out back to site.

What a view

Leah had really been wanting to go for a swim and as our site was right next to the water once we got back we changed into our swim gear and headed to the beach. Let me tell you the water was fantastic. Really warm with a course rocky/sandy bottom with patches of warm and cold water. We must have spent around an hour in the water before heading back to site for supper.

We are now chilling at site playing a few card games before heading to bed. FYI I’m kicking Leah’s ass at everything but golf.
