Betsy has a spa day

Day 6: Leah

We had a small issue with some fuel leaking out of Betsy’s carberator while she was parked at the campground. Keith called up a local power sports shop and was able to get her an appointment for first thing in the morning. We woke up feeling amazingly fresh considering the cocktails from the previous night. We dropped Betsy off and went for breakfast at La Baguette that was a suggestion from one of the locals that we chatted with the previous night.

Breakfast was amazing, and Keith’s Oilers t-shirt matched the mugs at the restaurant perfectly!

Go Oilers!

We had more time to kill and and enjoyed our museum stop the previous day so we went to the Railway Museum today. The display was really impressive, I’d recommend this stop to anyone. Keith got a call from the shop while we were in the museum letting us know that they had found the issue with Betsy (a damaged accelerator pump diaphragm in the carb). They used a silicone based product to get her patched up and road-worthy. We were able to breathe a sigh of relief that the issue was minor and easily fixable. Next stop was Moses Falls that was a short joant off the road, we went during the heat of the day and were so relieved to reach the cool mist from the falls. We had the place to ourselves for a short while, then decided to go grab Betsy.

The owner gave us some great suggestions for things to do while in Revy. We always make it a point to ask the locals for advice while we are travelling, this was another example of local knowledge is best.

Now that we had Bessie back and working like a charm, we took the ride up Mount Revelstoke that ends at a fire watch tower, the views from up there were SO WORTH IT! The hike was only 1km and everything we saw up there took my breath away.

We ate at the local sushi restaurant Kawakubo we didn’t make a reservation but were able to get in at the sushi bar, which worked out wonderfully for us. We each enjoyed a beer from the local Brewery Mount Begbie and FILLED UP on sushi. Keith and I try to make it a point to order at least one item that we have not had before anytime we are at a sushi restaurant, we were able to order a few new items enjoyed everything that was put in front of us. It was a great meal to have on a hot day. Sufficiently stuffed, we returned to the campground with big smiles on our faces. As we were riding in, the campground had filled up a bunch, so I was busy avoiding the small demon spawn running around on the road. I did not notice that one of our new neighbours had a KITTTY CAT on a leash in their campground. 😻 Keith noticed and immediately went to introduce himself to the cat, and by proxy the owners Tyson & Sammy. I had to go see the animals (they had two black cats Onyx and Obsidian, and a small Pomeranian/Chihuahua cross Little Bear). All the animals were extremely friendly (just like the owners) so we fed Tyson some beers and chatted them up for the evening. I find it’s the impromptu things we do while on holidays that I tend to enjoy the most.
