More Splashing in the River

Day 10: Leah

Kelowna to RockCreek, shouldn’t be a big deal, but we forgot that this weekend was the Boogie Bash in Rock Creek, let’s just say we were lucky to find a campsite on such short notice, not to mention on a long weekend.

I had noticed that Britannia Brewing served breakfast when we were there yesterday, so I figured that would be a great way to start Keith’s birthday: at a brewery!

Breakfast and the coffee were wonderful, Betsy maaaaay have had some more electrical gremlin issues in the morning. The issue with the instrument cluster not engaging had accelerated into flashing on and off while I started her up in the morning, and then completely shutting off for the drive into breakfast. After breakfast, the cluster awoke (coffee infused, perhaps?) but by the time we made it to the turn off to Big White on Highway 33, the odometer and speedometer had decided to just not function. At one point on the road Keith wanted me to lead, but I refused as I had no idea how fast I was travelling. Following Keith through the twisty roads may have been a good thing for my riding psyche, as I was forced to just go by momentum (from Keith) and how things felt. I felt decently comfortable, even thought I was riding blind so to speak. I’m used to checking my speed going into corner but was unable to do so especially after my speedo stuck at 90, then at 40 regardless of my actual speed.

We stopped in Beaverdell for a coffee at the little Farmer’s Market. Keith also needed an ice cream cone because it’s his birthday after all!

Rock Creek was really hot, so as soon as we were settled in the campground we wandered to the river and set up our chairs. Kids will be kids, and Keith had to build a little back eddy in the river.

Refreshments in the Kettle River

There was a pub just across the river within walking distance The Prospector Hotel & Pub it was established in 1898, or thereabouts. It was a cool old building and had good food.

  1. It’s been a long time since we met at Toad Rock. It’s good to see you two are still enjoying life on two wheels. Keep on keeping on. Bob from Ca.
