Day – 2 Keith
Today we started a little late after the ordeal the previous night, we woke up around 9:00. After each having a shower we had a wonderful breakfast prepared by Marcie of eggs and bacon. Neil was kind enough to run me though his day to day job of working from home for one of Canadas major broadcasters, its pretty cool if you ask me.
After saying our goodbyes we hit the road with our destination being Cranbrook BC. After enjoying the nonsense of highway 2 we turned off and heading towards Black Diamond.
Arriving in Black Diamond we saw one of best things ever, a Brewery! We pulled into the Hard Knox brewery, at first it seemed that it was closed but after chatting with one of the staff we discovered that they were open and they were doing a thing with PUPPIES! We grabbed a pint and then proceeded to get smothered by the cutest black lab puppy.

After finishing a pint we jumped back on the bikes and hit the road.
Turning south we headed down highway 22 which is one of the absolute gems in Alberta land of the straight and boring roads. This highway greeted us with rolling hills and twisty roads, something that I’ve been missing for the past few years. I forgot how much I loved this highway, lush and green for the first 50 km then wide open ranch land for the final section.
Reaching highway 3 we turned west and headed into the pass. We stopped at the Leitch Collieries to give our asses a rest and have a quick drink of water. Our next stop was in Blairmore at a brewery that we hit in the winter, The Pass Brewing. We each had a pint and shared a wood fired pizza that was amazing.

Back on the road we headed towards our destination of the Moyie Lake campground. Of course this being a motorcycle trip we decided to take a little bit of a bypass off highway 3 heading on a road that links in just north of Fort Steele. The road started off with some wonderful suggested speed of 40 signs and climbed pretty rapidly. After the initial “pass” we ended up on large sweepers through grassland and farm country.
Turning back onto highway 95 we decided to stop in Cranbrook at yet another brewery for a pint and supper. I opened the menu and was instantly convinced what I was having a Jaeger “hunter” Schnitzel. Leah and I each had a flight and with our bellies full hit the road.

We had a short ride to our final destination and quickly set up our tent as we had texted my brother earlier on in the day a I heard that he was going to be around the same area at the same time. Well wouldn’t you know it we were staying at the same site at the same day! We brought our chairs over to their site and visited until it was time to hit the hay.
