Keith gets a reverse-raccoon sunburn

We only had a short distance to travel today so the plan was to leave the house by 9:30. We had packed most of the stuff we needed the night before. I had started to sew new cooling neckbands but my brain was shutting down by about 9pm, so I wanted to finish them before we left. Apparently my brain was thinking about that task and all the other little things that I had left to complete so it activated by 6am. I got up, finished up the small sewing project, did a few other things to pack and organize and then went downstairs to do a workout. Keith woke up around 7, had a shower and then realized that he didn’t need to be up quite so early so he crawled back into bed. We had all the gear on the bikes and I was pulling my car back into the garage by 9:29. Keith went to start his bike…and nothing. I pulled my car back out of the garage and gave Roberto (Keith’s bike) a boost. Our first fuel stop WAS going to be in Beaumont but we decided to make it Millet instead, I was very low on fuel so I did hit reserve on the way. It’s typically further into our trip before I have to deal with hitting the reserve on the bike. Oh well, Roberto’s battery was well charged by the time we fueled up, so all is well. We then continued down Hwy 2A through Lacombe and then stopped in Red Deer for a coffee. While we were at the coffee shop we looked up the local breweries in the area, we decided to go to Troubled Monk which neither of us had been to before. We had a quick pint on the patio, and then headed down Hwy 2 towards Calgary.

This was the first time that we failed to apply sunscreen. We made it to our friends Marcie & Neil’s house in south Calgary, had a visit with them and their son Logan, then decided to hit a few breweries in town.

Neil looking like a true beer connoisseur.

We took an Uber to Annex Brewing where we had dinner, then next door to Establishment Brewing.

Looking like we enjoy each other’s company at Establishment Brewing!

The last stop of the night was Two Rivers Distillery, it was a short walk, but along the way Keith got horrible heartburn. We found a table at the distillery, and then being the good wife that I am, I walked up the hill to the closest convenience store and picked up some Gaviscon for him. It didn’t really help but luckily he was able to sleep at least. We got a ride back to Marcie & Neil’s, stayed up chatting into the wee hours of the morning before going to bed.
